Annual General Meeting
2012 AGM in Halifax

Steve Leblanc of Lower Sackville, N.S., has been busy making preparations to host the next Annual General Meeting of the Society, which takes place in Halifax, on May 18-19, 2012.

The Prince George Hotel (1725 Market Street) will be the site of both the Friday evening meet-and-greet and the Saturday conference. Located in downtown Halifax, the hotel is connected to the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre, and is near to Casino Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame, where a group tour is being planned.

Guest rooms will be available for booking starting on Dec. 1, 2011, on a first- come first-serve basis at a rate of $129 (plus taxes) for both single and double occupancy. Each additional adult in the same room is an additional $20. Reservations can be made at 1-800-565-1567.

As always, members are asked to monitor the SIHR website (sihrhockey.org), for more information as it becomes available.

Putting it on ice III - Conference
Putting it on Ice III is the latest in a series of conferences which have led to a renaissance in hockey scholarship. Information on the conference and its history is available at www.hockeyconference.ca. Those interested in presenting papers should send abstracts of approximately 200 words to Dr. Colin Howell, Academic Director, Center for the Study of Sport and Health, Saint Mary’s University at cssh@smu.ca by September 30, 2011.
